CNAB Welcomes the Apology of the United Nations for Serb Nationalist Song Ovation

The Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB) welcomes the news that today Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s spokesman stated that the United Nations apologizes for the ovation given to a militant Serb nationalist song “March on the River Drina”  that was performed as an encore at a concert honoring Serbia’s presidency of the U.N. General Assembly.

On January 15th,  the Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB) with its partner organizations Institute for the Research of Genocide, Canada (IRGC), Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina (ACBH), Bosnian American Genocide Institute and Education Center (BAGI) sent a strong protest letter to the United Nations.  CNAB expressed disappointment at Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s attendance of the concert held at the United Nations that was organized by Vuk Jeremic, President of the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.  The  concert as a scandalous insult to the victims of genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) because the orchestra played the infamous and offensive Serb nationalist song “March on the River Drina”.

While we welcome the news, we also ask that the UN take appropriate steps and remove the chief architect behind this hurtful incident and remove Vuk Jeremic from his position as the President of the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
