CNAB Supports the NATO Membership Action Plan for Bosnia
April 23, 2010
Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB) welcomes the news of a NATO membership plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although encouraged by the news, we remain concerned about the increasing levels of instability that are caused by obstructive actions of the Bosnian Serb leadership. Most recently, this is evident through their decision on passing the referendum law, as well as the denial of the Srebrenica genocide.
Therefore, CNAB urges for more U.S. and NATO involvement in pursuing political and military reforms aggressively and applying pressure when needed to ensure progress. We have on many occasions called for an accelerated timeline for NATO membership as the critical path for stability and peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. We believe that an urgent entry of Bosnia and Herzegovina into NATO would quell the manipulation of some politicians and provide a strong message to all in the region that Bosnian sovereignty will never come into question.
