CNAB Letter to Ambassador Rosemary DiCarlo

June 9, 2009

The Honorable Ambassador Rosemary DiCarlo
United States Ambassador and Alternate Representative to the United Nations (U.N.) for Special Political Affairs
United States Mission to the U.N. in New York
140 East 45th Street
New York, N.Y. 10017

Honorable Ambassador DiCarlo,

The Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB), an umbrella organization representing American and Canadian Bosniaks, would like to express gratitude on behalf of our entire community of Bosnian American citizens and Bosnian immigrants in the United States of America for your dedicated, objective and professional approach to the delicate subject of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its post-war development, NATO integration and joining the EU.

It is a breath of fresh air to hear international diplomats unequivocally convey objective criticism against the people who have successfully obstructed the provisions of the Dayton Accords and prevented sustainable return of Bosniak and other non-Serb exiles to their former homes, and deprived them of their democratic rights guaranteed by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Constitution and Dayton Peace Accords.

Furthermore, it is important to point to the Republika Srpska political representatives who, with backing from Serbia, are sources of false assertions so liberally disseminated against the State of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosnians loyal to this state and its democratic principles. Bosnia and Herzegovina needs the right to express and redevelop itself. We appreciate your objective efforts to set the record straight and for reaffirming the fact that “Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are enshrined in the Dayton Peace Accords.”

We appreciate the United States’ commitment and support of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With our best regards and appreciation for your dedicated work

Haris Alibašić
President of the CNAB
