The Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB) welcomes the news of release of Jovan Divjak, former General of the Bosnian Army, in Vienna on Friday. An Austrian court has rejected Belgrade’s request that general Divjak be extradited to Serbia for a false and politically motivated accusation of war crimes in the “Dobrovoljacka” case. Read more

On 6 December 1992 The New York Times described a May 1992 attack in Prijedor:
“When the attack began, Serbs from the village guided the tanks to the homes of certain Muslims…and the inhabitants were asked to come out and show their identity cards. Many of those who did were summarily executed…The bodies of the dead were carried away by trucks, which left a trail of blood. Those not killed on the spot were transferred to a convoy heading toward Omarska, a Serb concentration camp.” Read more

Academic Dishonesty of Professor Ian Buruma

In a recent Opinion piece published in The Globe and Mail on May 30, 2011, Prof. Ian Buruma challenged the momentous finding of international law that the 1995 Srebrenica massacre was a crime of genocide.(1) We should expect the comments of a professor of human rights and journalism (at Bard College, in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.) to embody integrity and conscientious research, particularly when discussing a subject of such gravity – “the worst [crime] on European soil since the Second World War”, according to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.(2) Instead Prof. Buruma deals with complex issues superficially, partially and misleadingly. State of Michigan Senate adopted the resolution commemorating Srebrenica genocide

The State of Michigan Senators adopted the Senate Resolution SR 70 proclaiming July 11, 2011, as Srebrenica Remembrance Day and the week of July 11, 2011, as Bosnia and Herzegovina Tribute Week in the state of Michigan. State Senators unanimously voted to adopt the Resolution. In a letter to Senators, the Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB) thanked Michigan legislators for their support to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosniak Americans in Michigan. Read more
Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx Honors Srebrenica Genocide Victims

Charlotte, NC Mayor Anthony R. Foxx honored the Srebrenica genocide victims by issuing a proclamation recognizing the Srebrenica genocide in which more than 8,000 Bosniak civilians were brutally slaughtered by Serb forces led by the recently arrested general Ratko Mladic. Read more
