Bosnia and Bosniaks – past, present, and perspectives

The issue of the relations between Bosnia and Bosniaks has to be considered from several aspects of those relations. First of them is the continuity of the name Bosnia and all the related names. Our science has not reliably identified the origin of the name of the state Bosnia, though that onomatology research and the topo-onomatology as its discipline approached the solution of this complex issue. In any case, this name is local and it emerged among its citizens who lived in the areas later known as Bosnia, which name will later on be used in the highest-level international documents as the marking for this state. The Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB) sharply condemns and protests the lies and misinformation in the text by Goran Maunaga (Glas Srpske, November 23, 2010) who is trying to implicate “a part of the Bosniak movement in North America” into alleged acts of violence against Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) politicians. Experience of the Institute for Resarch of Genocide Canada {IRGC} in campaigning for the adoption of a Resolution on Genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Canadian Parliament

Genocide in BH is a defeat all the achievements of human civilization. IRCG speaks on behalf of victims, reminiscent of their suffering and tears and suppressed fear of oblivion.

Bosniaks should not allow the victims to be thwarted by abandoning the legal domain in solving problems. Law has to be the basis of Bosniak political action. Giving up on law opens unimagined dangers for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and for Bosniaks. Read more

Call for proposals – Pionirska Street and Bikavac massacre monuments

Judge Patrick Robinson, President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, passing sentence on two of the prime culprits, observed that:

“In the all too long, sad and wretched history of man’s inhumanity to man, the Pionirska Street and Bikavac fires must rank high. At the close of the twentieth century, a century marked by war and bloodshed on a colossal scale, these horrific events stand out for the viciousness of the incendiary attack, for the obvious premeditation and calculation that defined it, for the sheer callousness and brutality of herding, trapping and locking the victims in the two houses, thereby rendering them helpless in the ensuing inferno, and for the degree of pain and suffering inflicted on the victims as they were burnt alive.” Read more

More than three years before the 1995 Srebrenica genocide, Bosnian Serb nationalists – with the logistical, moral and financial support of Serbia and the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) – destroyed 296 predominantly Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim)[1] villages in the region around Srebrenica, forcibly uprooting some 70,000 Bosniaks from their homes and systematically massacring at least 3,166 Bosniaks (documented deaths) including many women, children and the elderly. CNAB welcomes EU Council of Ministers decision to allow visa free travel for Bosnian citizens

The Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB), welcomes the European Council of Ministers decision to support the Parliamentary recommendation to allow visa free travel to the EU for citizens of Albania and Bosnia-Herzegovina. This decision leaves Kosovo as the only Balkan country to be excluded from the visa arrangement. Read more
